So, so happy for the four day weekend! And, grateful to check off one to-do thing from our list: costume shopping. How great are the outfits the boys picked this year?

I'm thankful for the start of a four day weekend. And, I'm grateful that I can admit when my son can teach ME something. Tonight we were watching the Chiefs game and I was getting upset at the plays and not saying very nice things. William told me that I needed to support them and that we do better when people cheer for us. Why, yes William, they do. Thanks for reminding your Mom. I watched the rest of the game with nothing but support, they ended up winning, and I ended up realizing that William's lesson needs to apply to how I treat everyone in my life. Thanks buddy!
A truly exhausting day - a big work project, a drop in client from Ames, and a memorial service tonight for a beloved patient. Throw in the early mornings and a Religious Ed mass and I'm just feeling beat. But, today I also drove by three accidents and sent a prayer to God for keeping me and my loved ones safe. Here's a quote I saw the other day and loved:
What an incredible day. Here's why:
* Boys got off to school well and Andrew had a "green" day; * Neither kid had homework except for William practicing for 15 minutes; * I worked my normal 9-3 and was home by 3:30 after running an errand on my way home; * William had friends Jake and Noah over to play for a couple hours; * I cleaned my bedroom and bathroom before dinner; * I cooked a good, healthy dinner for all of us; * I read the entire newspaper sitting outside on my porch with the fountain going; * Jim and I cuddled for 30 minutes while the boys played computer; * I started reading a book to the boys for 30 minutes - a new thing I want to do with them a couple times a week. At one point, I even told Jim that I felt "guilty" for having time to just sit. That's when you know things have gotten too crazy. I am so grateful for today! I am grateful for a slower day today and for a four day weekend ahead.
I am also smiling at Andrew. I got him a new Hallmark signing decoration and he LOVES it! It was a fun Birthday Day with Mom and Susie. We had brunch, toured the Street of Dreams, and painted some owls. Great Girl time!
This was a good Friday the 13th! Time with Mom, time with the family, and a great meal!
