I am thankful that my boys are such good friends. And, especially grateful for the five day weekend which let them go to bed like this last night (and a picture of their sweet pillows from this morning):

![]() This is what my little one looked like this morning as he sat to wait for us to leave for school. Pretty excited to be bringing donuts to his class in celebration of his birthday. Also, it was PJ day at school and they got to watch the Thanksgiving Charlie Brown special before their 5 day weekend. Pretty special day all the way around! Two other things to note as blessings for the day - one big and one small. A small bit of thankfulness - no one has to go anywhere tonight! All four of us home and together!
Second, I'm grateful for my newest co-worker. She reminded me to pray. So simple, but I had neglected to do it. Jim's truck is in the shop and the unexpected $500 need turned into a $2,000 need, wiping away our ability to buy a new mattress for each other for Christmas. Emily urged me to stop and pray. Within moments, I went from being teary to being at peace. And, feeling that God was already answering my prayers - November is one of only two months that Jim receives three pay checks (the extra one is for a bit over $2,000). So thankful to Emily and - most importantly - to God for calming my spirit. Today was the boys' birthday party day - they got to have friends over to our house - we went to the movie Thor and then had all of the kids over for the hot dog feast and cake/cupcakes. Everybody seemed to have a great time and William loved having his friends over night!
Last night brought the first snow flakes of the season. After school today, Andrew decided to do the "first sled ride of the season" - he LOVES winter!
William is 12 years old! It was a great day! He started by waking up to streamers in his doorway, taking donuts to school for homeroom, having his classmates sing to him throughout the day (and his Strings teacher play Happy Birthday on the piano), taking cookies to Religious Ed, and getting his dad's chili for dinner. He then got to have a scavenger hunt for his birthday presents from Andrew and me and was overall pretty darn happy. I'm so grateful for him - my first child - the one who made me a mom. He's even more special today than 12 years ago.
